Winter course Spanish
TaalTaal offers quality Spanish courses on several levels. Our groups consist of 5 to 10 students, so you will have lots of personal attention and guidance.
The new season starts in the week of January 16th 2012 and consists of 11 lessons of 90 minutes. There is no class during school holidays. It is possible to sign up for an already running course.
Please take into account about 2.5 hours of self-study next to the regular courses. If you need extra help, you can make use our of complimentary self-study sessions every Friday or you can take private classes (reduced fees apply).

Longer lessons: starting September 2011, all non-Dutch lessons have been extended to 1,5 hours instead of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Course overview
Spanish Level 1
Level before course: You have not yet participated in a Spanish course.
Level after course: After this course you know how to pronounce Spanish words and you've learned basic grammar rules such as personal pronouns, adjectives and regular and some irregular verbs. You are able to have short conversations in Spanish and you can read short texts and answer questions about the content. Your CEFR level is A1.

Frequency, duration, day and time: One lesson a week for 11 weeks: Tuesday between 18:00 and 19:30 or Thursday between 19:45 and 21:15.

Spanish Level 2
Level before course: You have participated in the Spanish Level 1 course or another similar course.
Level after course: You know more (ir)regular verbs and can make sentences in the past participle. You can ask the way, make inquiries about public transport, order food and drinks in a restaurant and tell the time. During the course you've practised listening to spanish texts, so you understand what native speakers are saying. You are able to do a short speech on a familiar topic. Your CEFR level is A1/A2.

Spanish Level 3
Level before course: You have participated in the course Spanish Level 2 or a similar course.
Level after course: You have a larger vocabulary, which enables you to ask more complex questions. You've been introduced to comparatives and prepositions and you know the Gerundio and Futuro. You're able to talk about your family as well as your activities and plans for the future. You've also been introduced to all forms of the past tense. Your CEFR level is A2.

Spanish Level 4
Level before course: You have participated in the course Spanish Level 3 or a similar course.
Level after course: Your Spanish is vocabulary is larger which makes it easier for you to start a conversation in Spanish. You can write short letters and read articles in Spanish magazines and newspapers. Your CEFR level is A2/B1.

Spanish Level 5
Level before course: You have followed a level 4 course. You are familiar with the personal pronouns as an indirect and direct object, the future and condicional tenses. You also master the Indefinido and you know when to use this form of the past tense. Your conversaional skills are reasonable, you have no problems with listening and understanding the language. You are experienced in writing smaller texts.
Level after course: You will be familiar with all past tenses and will understand the basis of the Subjuntivo. You can hold a speech about a self chosen subject and participate in theme related discussions. You can read and understand Spanish and South American texts. You will have a better knowledge of grammar and possess a larger vocabulary. Your CEFR level is B1.

Spanish Level 6 - Conversation 1
Level before course: You have taken a level 5 or similar class. You have a profound knowledge of the Spanish grammar, know all about sentence structure and have reasonable listening skills. You can follow a Spanish tongue soap on tv. Your speaking fluency ranges between reasonable and good; you have been able to practice. You understand written texts.
Level after course: You can participate fully in thematical discussions about several subjects in Spanish. You are able to formulate questions about texts and to voice your opinion. Your listening skills have improved. Your vocabulary has broadened and you speak much more freely. You can participate in a group discussion and make yourself understood.

Kids' Course Spanish
Level before course: The Spanish course for kids between 9 and 12 years is aimed at children who know little or no Spanish.
Level after course: Through the means of games and exercises your children have practised and improved their Spanish.
Frequency, duration, day and time: One lesson a week for 11 weeks: Tuesday between 15:30 and 17:00.

Certificate
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate with your proficiency level. We use the standardized Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), also known as ERK in Dutch.
