English Upper-Intermediate NEW 1 is the first part of our Upper-Intermediate course which covers Chapters 1-4 (of 7) of the English File book. Topics include illness and treatment, pop culture, stereotypes, air travel, crime and punishment.

Resultaat na afloop: You will have acquired the skill of finding contextual clues to understand specialised written material, thereby enabling you to scan more quickly through complex text to locate relevant details. You are able to understand linguistically complex speech on concrete and abstract topics, express ideas, opinions, and degrees of emotion with better precision, as well as develop your own arguments using relevant detail to support viewpoints on a range of social issues. You will have refined your verbal communication skills using colloquial language, proper word stress in multi-syllabic words and stress changes between word families, and further practice with intonation and connected speech.
